On Tuesday, July 24, William, Bobby and Richard went over to a buddies house. We met at the Lonestar Grand Prix and have now begun a project race car that we are building basically from the ground up. We are building a 1986 Nissan Pulsar that has a 1.5L engine that boasts an extremely underwhelming 59hp! Why would anyone in their right mind use this car to race? Well, us apparently. And we arent the only people building a crazy car!
William is currently 20 points ahead of Phylicia and 32 ahead of Jarret.
No matter what, William will finish ahead of Jarret. If Jarret gets work points he will have 974 points before the drop, 795 after dropping his lowest finishing position if William finished tenth of ten, he would have 951 points but with the drop he would have 796 placing him one point ahead of Jarret. Today is Spring 2 as well as the entire teams first endurance race. I will not be racing in Spring 2 because of things not working out as planned but we will be racing the endurance race. The lineup will include William, Bobby, and Richard. We have no game plan as far as who is going to go out when but we do have one item figured out, each driver is going to push it as hard as they can each lap because, although an endurance race, this race is not very long. At only 75 laps, the race will be over in about an hour. Each driver will drive 25 laps at around 44 to 54 seconds depending on skill, determination, guts, and how strong the motor feels like pulling. We are having to run the older motor this weekend because the new motor had many parts damaged during the Texas Lonestar Grand Prix. We do not have the power we want but will make the most of what we have and place as high as we can. The team to watch today will be the Gaddy Race team with Yaani-Mai, Ansel, and Austin Gaddy. Each driver is a proven winner. Austin and Ansel are not only proven winners at the local level, but at the national level in highly competitive classes. Look for fast times by each of the Gaddy drivers. Another driver to watch is Kevin. If Kevin is able to find a ride before the race he should be running pretty quick lap times even though he has a bow fracture in his arm.
We are looking forward to our second new kind of event just this month! We hope to see you at the track soon! I should probably be asleep right now considering it is after three in the morning but I just got finished packing up to head to Fair Park in about five hours. Everything on the kart seemed like it was working well so we have high hopes for this weekends race. To follow all of the action this weekend, follow me on Twitter @williamlochner, on race monitor for iOS and android (ten dollars for the app), or http://www.racetalkonline.com/. However, the best way to follow all of the action is to come on out! Only fifteen dollars gets you the opportunity to watch the future drivers in NASCAR, Indy Car, Formula 1, and many more!
With the new season just around the corner Lochner Racing has spent a lot of getting the 90′s Trackmagic kart ready to race as well as preparing a second chassis, a 2008 Birel. The new chassis has a longer wheel base, wider stance, and a larger axle. With these differences we are expecting the chassis to handle much better and provide the best platform for us to continue building our program to the point we need to be at. We also purchased a brand new engine that includes a new flywheel that will officially be released this coming Wednesday. With the unknowns of this new motor there is a lot of questioning about how the reliability will compare to the older flywheel.
With the new chassis and motor, the only thing left to build a winning team is practice. We did not get a chance to practice away from the three winter races over the winter leaving William with a few unknowns about how the track is going to feel during the colder weather. Upcoming races: March 10 – Spring Series Race 1 at North Texas Kartway March 17 &18 – Texas Lonestar Grand Prix March 31 – Spring Series Race 2 at North Texas Kartway For the 2012 season, Lochner Racing already has plans for over 15 events. There are 22 club races, 8 Southwest Regional Cup (SWRC) Series races, and the Lonestar Grand Prix (LSGP). We are planning on running 14-18 of the club races, 2 SWRC races, and the LSGP. The club races will begin on January 7. The SWRC race we are planning on attending is on February 25-26. The LSGP is the main event of the year for Lochner Racing. The LSGP will have drivers from Texas, Florida to California, Europe to Australia, and many more countries. Classes will range from chonda to CR125 shifter karts.
Our plans for chassis development include a complete rebuild from new bearings and tie rods to wheels and tires and much more. We are also going to be getting new engines to ensure that we do have the proper tools to get the job done at the race track. The third department we will be driver development where William is planning on getting more practice at both North Texas Kartway and the new indoor kart track, Pole Position Raceway. We do not currently have any driving coaches or plans to hire one at the moment but may look into one in the future. Now you know the plans that Lochner Racing has in place for 2012. Check back often for updates and follow us on Twitter @Lochner_Racing and Facebook (search for Lochner Racing). See you at the track! |
