On Tuesday, July 24, William, Bobby and Richard went over to a buddies house. We met at the Lonestar Grand Prix and have now begun a project race car that we are building basically from the ground up. We are building a 1986 Nissan Pulsar that has a 1.5L engine that boasts an extremely underwhelming 59hp! Why would anyone in their right mind use this car to race? Well, us apparently. And we arent the only people building a crazy car!
The "Blue-tiful" engine.
There is a series that has been around for a few years that was created to resurrect crap-cans like this Pulsar. The rules: Build a $500 car, less safety equipment, and race for 24 hours straight. Yes, you read that correctly, TWENTY FOUR straight hours in a car that makes you wonder if it will even make it out of the driveway! The series coordinator Jay Lamm still wonders why anyone in their right mind would take the most awful pile of metal, put a roll cage in it, then race it for 24 hours.
